The cable on my Day Sailor between the winch and the centerboard snapped (fortunately while it was being trailored). Does anyone have any experience with replacing the stainless steel cable? Thanks, Bill

cable

have done it several times, raise up the stern far enough to reach cable mount point, drop new cable down from topside, attach to keel, lower boat finish rigging keel cable topside. if keel is rusted very bad, it should weigh a min of 49 lbs for best results. class rules list 49 lbs as min weight.

Centerboard cont.

Thanks for the info. How did you raise the boat off the trailer while changing the cable?

up

the boat can be lifted by one or two people, lift it and block it up, OR dropping tongue raises stern, block up, lift bow and pull trailer forward enough to drop keel.

careen it

You can also careen it on a beech or lawn, then pull out the cb to work on it with the mast top tied down.
