Centerboard Stuck Up

In pulling our O'Day 19 last Fall, the centerboard penant got wedged along side the CB as we trailered the boat...when I discovered this, I took the boat back out, and after 30 minutes of slamming into 2 to 3 foot waves with the OB running full throttle the CB was still stuck up the well. Any ideas other than having a boat yard hoist lift it off the trailer, to then pry the CB back down? Also, the CB pennant was already frayed, and needs replacing...how big a job is that?

Stuck Centerboard

Chris, My 23 centerboard had gotten stuck and I used a rubber mallet by tapping along the casing inside the bilge to free. Depends how much it is stuck.

Thanks

Thanks, Carl...we did try banging on the well, as we pushed into good sized waves for about 30 minutes, to no avail...I think the inevitable is to get a hoist where we store the boat for the winter, and once lifted, to pry the board down from below as it hangs on the lift belts. Chris

stuck centerboard

have seen hole drilled on top of centerboard well to allow tapping board down. the hole has a threaded collar glassed onto the trunk that takes a threaded plug when not needed
