Removing the Centerboard
HiI had basicly the same problem with my 23.5, except the centerboard cracked along a vertical line for about a foot. The boatyard discovered it when they were doing the bottom paint so I told them to go ahead and drop the centerboard for repairs. Turned out to be a real pain because the stainless steel nut that holds the centerboard had been overtightened at the factory and the threads were ruined. The boatyard had to replace the stainless shaft and nut. They also had to cut an access hole at the base of the compression post to extract the broken pieces. I think the whole repair cost me about 500 bucks, but given the grief and frustration involved if wasn't an unfair price.Alan LongS/V Random Access
