Question
Most excellent pictures and narrative!! I'm facing this very process in a few weeks and was wondering how to do it. My Christmas present is a new Raymarine Bi-Data and I have to install thru-hulls and will be dropping the swing keel while I'm on the hard as it's getting somewhat crunchy (if that makes sense). Question though, what do the screws bed into? Is it raw fiberglass, wood, plastic?? I'm concerned that one or more of the bolts will break off and want to be prepared for it. The other question I have is, how much does the keel weigh? Is this a winch in/out deal or can it be handled by one or two people?? Thanks, Russ
