Hunter 240 Santa Cruz
I recently bought a Hunter 240, and now I need to get it hauled, pressure washed and loaded on my trailer. The boat is about an hour and a half from where I live, so I am trying to understand all of the procedures, before going up there and loading it. The boat is in a slip and I do not know if the centerboard is up or down. I need to make sure it is down for the haul and pressure wash, but I then need to raise it for trailering. I'm sure it is probably easy to do, I just cannot find info about it. I have a 15' Mutineer, where I pull the outhaul one direction to lower and the opposite direction to raise, but it does not appear as though the Hunter 240 works like this. Question1: I know there is a centerboard up-haul for raising the centerboard, but where is the down-haul? I do not see one in the owner's manual and do not understand what keeps the centerboard lowered. If someone could explain the process for raising and lowering the centerboard, I would appreciate it. Question2: Also is there anything specific I should do during the pressure wash to ensure that the centerboard swivels properly. Thanks, -k -

No cb down-haul

I think it is like my 260. If that is the case, there is no down-haul. The weight of the centerboard pulls it down and keeps it there. It is more like a retractable keel and pivots forward as it lowers. To lower mine, you simply let the uphaul go free. If it is out of the water, be careful. It will drop fast and I think mine weighs about 150 pounds. On mine, there is no way to lower it while it is sitting on the trailer, but a lot of it is exposed below the hull while on the trailer since it pivots backward instead of pulling up.
