I have trouble getting the centerboard down. I have it up on stands and it easily pulls down or up. But in the water its nearly impossible to get down. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Ken

water logged

It sounds like your board is soaking in water through some hairline cracks. When out of the water, the cb drains, dries and shrinks. When in the water is soaks and swells. That's the first thing I would check. The next would be to have a look see up the cb trunk from underneath, checking for any grundge, but that is less likely as it would be a problem on land as well as in the water.

Same problem with my Widgeon

I have the same problem with my Widgeon. I usually end up tipping the boat on it's side, once off my trailer, to pull it down. My Widgeon has two ropes for centerboard control. Does anyone have any pictures of how these ropes are connected to the centerboard? I am contemplating pulling the boat off of the trailer and seeing if I can drop the CB and figure out what's wrong. Before I do, I thought I'd check with anyone here who has done this, and if they have any suggestions. Thanks in advance. Mark Schneider
