I am testing a 1980 Daysailer 3. The centerboard will not drop or retract when I pull the cable from inside the boat. I turned the boat on its side and pulled the centerboard down with my hands to a point where I saw that the metal piece (tang?) which holds one end of the cable and which is attached by screws to the centerboard has been bent so that it and the end of the cable are between the centerboard and housing, thus preventing the centerboard from moving wihtout rubbing the end of the cable and the bent metal against the housing. What is a procedure to get the centerboard to move smoothly? I'm especially wondering whether the problem can be solved without having to pull the centerboard completely out of the housing. Thanks.
