I have a 1990 daysailor and the centerboard does not stay all the way down. I have the two lines one to keep it down and one to pull it up but even if I cleat the line to keep it down it still comes up somewhat and this affects maneuvering. Any suggestions?

Mine does too on a '72

David, I have the exact same problem. Even with the line cleated on my DSII the centerboard drifts back up to about 45 degrees before the line takes hold to keep it in place. I am very concerned about sailing it that way, and am interested in the responses you get. I have heard the bushing that the CB pivots on could be worn, and that can be a possible source of the problem as well as leakage into the inner hull. Alan

0ur centerboard was jammed. I swam under the boat and freed it. Does anyone have a diagram of the centerboard parts and rigging?? I am also looking for replacement deck plates (hard to replace with generic because they are fine thread). Is there a Day Sailer parts store? nfrostfamily@adelphia.net

Rod Johnson,

D&R Marine or local store

The Inspection / Bailing ports in the cockpit are available from most marine stores, Beckson is the most popular brand I replaced mine with these. You will be better off replacing the whole thing, rather than just the caps. You may need to slightly enlarge the holes in the fiberglass to fit in the new deckplates, but they will fit. D&R Marine has these as well, and I think Rudy's price is a little better than the chain stores (usual price is less than $10). These new ports are a BIG improvement for many reasons, not the least of which is that they have a coarser thread. As far as a centerboard diagram, Rudy has one that he includes wit hthe rigging guide that he sells. I also have an expanded version of the DS II Manual that I make available for $7.00 including postage. E-mail me for details. I've included a link to D&R Marine if you want to check Rudy's price on the inspection ports.
