My CB line for my 94 H26 is looking worn. I asked the folks at Strictly Sail, Cincinatti how much to replace it. An initial quote "around 500$" Does this seem reasonable to you all. Has anyone done this themselves?

All we're talking about here is a length of line, right? Simply attach a new piece of spectra line and pull it through, what's so hard???

Not so easy unfortunately.

I've seen it done in part, check the archives, someone who has done it will chime in. The boat has to be lifted higher than the trailer, the keel must be lowered and then removed from its bracket and lowered from the boat to access it's attachment. You need at least two people. They did not make this one so easy! alan

Line 30' Labor Boat Lift

$500 seems high. You cannot do it on the trailer the boat must be lifted about two feet.

...just me thinking out loud.....splice an eye into the new line and attach the new line to the inside end of the old line with the boat in the water and the keel down. Take a splash and from below, pull the line through. Attach a shackle to the splice and the keel....done. Just trying to find an easy way, why wouldn't this work?

You cannot get to the attachment point...

...of the keel while it is still attached to the boat, up or down. would be real nice and probably could/should have been engineered that way. Forgot about this, http://www.ayesail.net/sailing/Hunter/ManualH260/Page51B.htm one picture is worth...the 26 is about the same. alan

Me, too.

John, I also have a 94 H26 - mooring #57 at Cave Run. Been worried about this line as well. I've found Strictly Sail in Cincy very expensive. I had Lighthouse Landing at Kentucky Lake paint my bottom for half the price of a Strictly Sail quote. However, I didn't like dealing with them - with me they were not very customer focused. I'm working with Taylor Fiberglass just outside of Burnside and they are a dream so far. Send me an e-mail if interested and I'll let you know how it goes... What ever you do, put the best line in there that money can buy... Spectra for sure...

$350

Can't find the receipt, but this is what I remember and am pretty sure. Was January of 2004. Am still waiting on word whether Taylor Fiberglassing will replace my swing keel uphaul line. You don't appear to be in the Hunter Owners Directory, so I can't e-mail you directly. Would prefer to take this discussion off line.

Sound expensive

I think Strickly Sail is very expensive, and out of line. I got a somewhat vague, outragious quote for a bottompaint. I then checked with Harbor North, Huron,OH, and they did it for about a 1/3 of Strickly Sail. When I first got the boat from Strickly Sail, I finally had to take it to Harbor North to get it fixed.
