While loading onto the trailer, experienced very slow progress , thought the centerboard might be dragging.Sent my able assistant aboard to winch it up. He being a enthusiastic young aryan applied excessive force and broke the cable. I live in the mountains of NC and the closest marina is about 120 miles. I called the factory and received little to no help, they in fact displayed consumate ignorance. My questions :when the centerboard is at full down is the attaching point of the cable acessible from under the boat?, what kind of fitting is used ? is the eye or whatever laminated into the board or bolted thru with a yoke of some kind ? how much does the board weigh ? I was thinking that if the attaching point is acessible I could launch the boat and run a new cable down thru the trunk and make the connection underwater. If the eye or whatever is not acessible I will rent a boom truck and lift the hull off the trailer high enough for the whole board to drop down after I have removed the pivot bolt. I would like to be prepared with as many of the possibilities covered so that the hull does not sway in the breeze at $70.00 per hour while I run around trying to cope with new discoveries. The factory was very reticent. I also questioned them about the difficulty of pulling her up on the trailer in the first place. My theory about the relationship between the relative height of the center rails and rails at the turn of the bilge was received as so much bulgarian and they thought that the weight of the hull was born mostly by the centerboard. Any advice, suggestions and how to's would be appreciated
