I have an 1967 oday 2. the cable attached to the spindle for raising the centerboard up and down snapped and the centerboard is snapped and stuck down! I wanted to try to pull the top off but I'm worried about the centerboard falling into the water. i also can't pull the boat out on the trailer if the centerboard is stuck down. I'm not sure what to do

I'm in the market as were . Colonial Beach
You can run a rope down one side of the boat and down the other side. Move it back and you can pull the board up that way. Tie the rope off once the board is up.

It may be worth getting a haul out at this point. You may be able to fix it on a short haul.

yep, use the winches or a trailer strap, to raise it and get it on the trailer or a stand.

what does it weigh?

For those of us not familiar with your boat, can you send pictures of the mount with the cover of the mechanism removed? The solution for such a situation on my Hunter 216 with a 500 lb swing keel is to create a bridle / harness between the stern cleats and attach a block-and-tackle or winch between the attachment point and the bridle. The geometry of laying this out on my boat works (it's a straight line) without additional blocks to spread the load. What kind of weight are we dealing with?

I am unsure of the weight and I will try to take some pictures once I get the centerboard tied up!
