Depends on the Age of your 23
Without the year of your boat, I don't know which system you have. The early 70's with the cast iron keel usually have a SS wire cable which winds up with a crank on the side of the guideway tube which doubles as a table pedestal. I recently replaced the one on my 1973 with an assembly I got from Rudy at D&R Marine, along with a new centerboard. The assembly was 1/4" SS soft braided cable with a deep throat shackle swedged onto the end. The shackle has a 1/4" pin that goes through a hole drilled in the trailing edge of the centerboard. Shackle must be narrow so that it just swallows the thickness of the centerboard, but does not get bound up in the slot in the keel. The later 70's and 80's boats use a rope system that goes to the cockpit. Someone else with that boat will have to comment if yours is a later model. Or, just call D&R, tell him what you have, and he will send you the right assembly and how to mount it.
