Cell phones in North Channel

Has anyone found whether cell phone coverage in the North is satisfactory to have a reasonable probability of receiving an emergency message??

Cell Phone antennas

Jack, On page 95 of the West Marine catalog they sell Cell phone antennas that mount on the mast. Also the connectors to many popular hand held phones. This may be helpful if the signal stenth in that area is poor.Regards,Chris

Not Sure About That Jack, But...

if you register ahead of time with the Canadian Coast Guard, and give them your credit card #, they will patch through land line calls, either too, or from your boat using your good old VHF. Its expensive, but is a nice service in emergencies. I would think cell phone coverage would be spotty at best in the N. Channel.Don
