Ceiling Mount Cabin Lite- Suggestions?

I have an '89 Hunter 28 and I'm interested in getting suggestions from those that have installed a ceiling light above their cabin table. It seems there are as many opinions for lights as there are for "best anchor type". I just want a good 12 V DC powered light source that is reasonable in cost (kinda rules out LEDs) and does a good job of lighting up the table top for games / cards etc. I'm leaning toward flourescent.

You don't have to break the bank to have a LED cabin light. Check RV stores on line for either led or floresents,I have both but have floreseents over the cabin table.
