Roller Furler
I just recently bought a CDI FF-2 for my O'Day 222 and plan on installing it in the spring. I have slots in my mast for "T" fittings, so I bought a Dyer mast tang for my forestay. Prior to buying the mast tang and having my "T" fitting cut off my forestay, and a suitable fitting installed by Rudy at D&R Marine, I brought my Genny and Forestay to a sailmaker in Marion Ma., and after I told him that I was going to do the installation myself, the guy told me that a "T" fitting in my mast slot would work. I don't believe him! He didn't have time to spread my sail out and look at it, but he wanted me to leave it with him which I refused to do. The directions specifically call for toggle fittings on both ends of the stay because there has to be some room for movement. Without this movement, the stay can break, and the mast could fall back toward the people in the cockpit. You're on the right track though. You're asking the right questions. Good luck!Joe
