If anyone has installed one. I'd like to know the job went. The chandlery is selling them for a great price. I'm pretty clear on how they work but does the existing jib need to be modified? It's not mentioned by CDI and all the others like harken say the sail needs a luff edge with rope sewn in? thanks all Denise

Easy Install
We ordered ours from Sail Warehouse last year. You'll need to order a new Genoa. No way to alter your current jib at an affordable price. Its cheaper just to order with the Furler through someone like Sale Warehouse where everything matches and measures up. The install was very easy. It comes packaged up and you need to be carefull in unwinding the luff but all you do is run it through your front stay and cut to length. The plastic luff extrusion is strong and durable but bendable. Can't imagine a better set up. We've had ours up operating for this whole year and it has worked flawlessly. Very happy and this was the cheapest option out there. I'd say it would be a waste of money to try and pay someone to do the install. Good luck Hunter 25.5 Tim

I installed a CDI on my H240 two years ago. It's an easy two-person installation that only took a couple of hours. The directions from CDI are helpful. You will need to have your headsail modified or replaced. I opted for the latter and have been extremely pleased with the results. Caution though: the plastic extrusion comes wound into a coil and must be handled carefully. Also, I was warned not to leave the extrusion for longer than a few weeks since the material's memory is persistent. It makes sense that it would be easier to handle in warm weather than in cold. You'll fine several other past threads in the archives. Good luck...you'll enjoy the convenience and safety the furler provides.

CDI Furlers
Denise - Check the archives under H23 and CDI furlers - tons of reports, don't remember seeing any negative. You will need to have the tang that the forestay attaches to somehow extended or replaced with a longer version so that the drum of the furler rests above the anchor locker on your H23. This means that your forestay will need to be shortened and the turnbuckle reattached. Certainly not show stoppers, but extra complications you need to know about. I vaguely remember one description of somebody who went the other direction and modified the anchor locker so that the drum could operate below deck level - not sure if that is simpler than biting the bullet and shortening the forestay. sounds worth the $ for sure. I just joined anchor yacht club in Bristol PA think i'll try one of the yacht club membersthere that does canvas work. I'm sure he could do the luff thingy. Now.. when $$$ permits.. thanks for all the good input! Denise
