CDI Messenger Line

We purchase our 270 a few months ago and have no experience changing the headsail with the CDI furler. I can see the furler is significantly different than the Snapfurl system we used on our last boat. My question pertains to the messenger line I've read about. Does anyone know how thick the messenger line should be? Or have any tips on connecting it to the decored line? Thanks...

Just about anything will work..

and tie a knot that won't come undone. You don't use the halyard / messenger line to put any luff tension, just to raise the sail. then the tack line gets tensioned!
