I was just asked a question since a fellow had his CDI roller furling replaced at no cost. It is twisting. First you are using an FF2 luff furling extrusion. I believe the book says take the mesurement from the pin to a point on the stem ball when laid out. Then you will cut appx. 12 1/4 inches from the top from the overall length. The internal furling line use to go to a black cup and then come directly down. That black plastic cup that you can see on the top of the furling system was redesigned some time ago. Now there is for better lack of terms a bulge on the side of that cap for easier running of line thru the cap. Since the mast of the Hunters is generally speaking a little mroe forward than other sailboats, the angle is less with the forestay in place. I find that the bulge on the cap will hit the mast and cause the furler to snag. Simple reameady is to cut the extrusion by 2- 3 inches shorter than what is called for in the initial installation. Then the furler should turn freely. One other thing to check is the furling line exiting from the drum.. It has to clear or your furler will hang up and this will be true for any furling system. CDI luff twist

I have had my new CDI develop a twist in the luff. CDI suggested that I stored it wrong on the mast over the winter. They did send me another. Within 2 months, the new one developed a twist. CDI did send me a second luff, after several calls, and many months. I have not installed it as yet. I sent out a message last year , and 2-3 owners of the 24' or 26' water ballast complain of the same twist. If you experience this problem, contact CDI and Hunter Marine.
