I am mounting a CDI furler on my 1985 27 tall rig. It looks the drum is to close to the anchor roller if I mount it on the original forestay. It also seems very close to the second rung on the bow rail. I am going to have a new stay made with the recomended toogle at the top. It looks to me like the stay will have to be about four inches shorter to allow for a link plate to raise the drum of the furler up. I was wounder if any has already dealt with this and knows the "majic" number of inches to raise the furler up.

What they did on mine is

When I put a new furling system on my 85C30 TR they had to order a special bottom piece that was several inches long. That raised up the drum, then they made a new shorter headstay to meet the exact height/length etc. I think the headstay was about $250. $300. but now I do have the original for a spare, and after spending over $3,000. for the system this part was "the unknown expence" I wasn't really ready for but after all that I put the whole thing together myself and saved a bunch of money. Take your time, follow the directions and above all THINK LIKE A SAILOR. Good luck, Dean www.blowinganddrifting@yahoo.com
