JuUst a follow up on a past post re: replacing the turnbuckle in the anchor locker to which the roller furler (forestay) attaches. I spoke to CDI and they were adamant that a turnbuckle should not be used to attach the furler to the forestay tang. They believe it is a major safety issue! Therefore I am making a tang extension to which I will attach the furler and will use the turnbuckle inside the furler drum to do the adjustment. Comments ?

I would go with what CDI says. They build a good product and should know whats best when it comes to its installation. I think if you check the archives in the small boat section you'll find some information about losing a mast beacause a turnbuckle was used in the manner your talking about. The discussion was last year I belive.
