My Cape Dory 25 (1983)has the factory flooring in the cabin. It looks like dark wood strips about 1" wide with a lighter wood stip about 3/8" in between. In my case, the lighter wood strips are buckling and starting to splinter. I need to replace or refinish the entire floor. Does anyone know of a resource for the steps or process to do this chore? Thank you.

die grinder

Chip or chisel the old floor out. Don't worry about every little bit. DO NOT mar the sides or you'll have visible scars. Next use a hand held grinder with a 3 1/2 inch metal grinding wheel to level out your floor. Watch the sides again. Tape up sheet metal to protect the sides if you can't control the grinder. Next lay out strips of teak 2 inchs wide as you would like them to appear. Space your strips with a small nail. When you have your pieces perfectly laid out use expoxy to set them. Cover with epoxy and let the expoxy settle in the grooves a little lower than the edge of the wood strips. Polyuretahne or varnish to protect (High gloss). 3 coats. Use 100 grit sandpaper to smooth the expoxy and the first varnish layer. Use steelwool on the second layer (medium fine). Use very fine steelwool on the last layer to give a satin look.
