Removed the mast this Winter to work on radar, when it goes back up should the mast be straight up or should it lean to the stern? And how tight should the shroud and stays be-- is there a rule of thumb? I appreciate all the help I can get. In advance thank you.

C400 rig tuning

ib 1. With the size of the mast on your boat, you're not going to get much rake on it. That's usually for "bendy" masts. Our telephone poles don't usually bend. Not much "tilt" in them either. 2. Rig tuning is a real separate subject. I recommend that you check with the Catalina 400 Association, Ron Marcuse's got some great tips. Check your Mainsheet magazine for his address. You can also go to Sailnet, or do a forum archive search here, or Google on "rig tuning." It's a subject that has been covered intensively. Also talk with some fellow C400 owners.

Yes this is my first sailboat. I've had a lot of power boats but not sailboats. I'm just trying to learn about rig tuning because I think the marina is putting it on wrong . Thanks Gary
