I sold my C30 a couple a years ago and it sold pretty fast. My wife and I plan to go cruising in 3 to 5 years. What we have been thinking is to buy a C36 and sail it for those 3 to 5 years to keep my skills up and to elevate hers then sell it and buy the boat we will cruise on. I think the C36 will sell easier than other less known boats here in Southern California. I haven't thought to look at the C34 so that might work also. We have been looking at 93 or later but I'm not against looking at earlier boats for the money savings. Do the mid to late 80's to early 90's sell any easier than late 90's into 2000's? Any years I should look out for? C34 or C36? I would buy a Hunter but I don't care for the looks. I would buy a Beneteau but I not sure of the market on the west coast for them. What others should I consider? Any info you can offer us we thank you for. Paul

Catalina 34 or 36

We bought our '93 C36 8 years ago and couldn't be happier. Plenty of room, easy to sail (even single handed), and it retains it's value for re-sale. The '93 has the MKII interior. We've added some creature comforts, custom v-berth mattress, a second aft-cabin AC unit (for guests), installed new water heater, gel batteries, new canvas, and a few more things over the 8 years. People often stop and ask us if it is a new boat. Bottom line...you can't go wrong with a 36 Catalina
