I sail out of Southern California (Long Beach) and normally encounter winter afternoon winds between 5 and 15 knots and summer afternoon winds between 15 and 20 knots. My boat is 1990 Catalina 34 standard rig with a fin keel. What are your recommendations for the size of a furling head sail. Thanks for your suggestions, Dave

I'd recommend you go with a 150 genny. I had a 155% on my C-30 tall rig which I recently sold. I'm getting a 150 on my new C-36 std rig. Your winds are a little stronger than I usually get here on the Hudson River & Long Island Sound, but I've found that the boat sails well with the genny rolled in 10 to 25% if the wind picks up a bit. .

I have a 135 furling which in most conditions seems to be the right amount of sail
