Catalina 310 Anacortes,Wa
Hi Peggie
This is my macerator set up on my 2002 Catalina 310.
I believe it came that way from the factory, I'm 2nd owner so I'm not positive.
Looks like this is the way not to install a macerator.
Do you see anything out of order or something I would need to change?
The winter is the best time to make these kind of improvements.
thanks

I THINK it's ok...but...

I'm having a hard time figuriing out exactly what you have from the photos. From the first and second one, it looks ok except that IMO there should be a y-valve where the tee is (tee isn't wrong, I just have good reasons for preferring a y-valve there). And there does seem to be a y-valve in the third photo...but I can't tell where it is in the system or what it does...or what the device (pump?) in the upper left corner of that photoi is. Nor do any of the photos reveal where all that stuff is relative to the tank...how far away, where in relation to the top of bottom of it.

And I'm really curious to know about the corrugated hoses I see in that photo, 'cuz corrugated hoses have been considered inappropriate for most applications on boats for nearly 20 years!

Peg, those aren't corrugated hoses; they're chafe-resistant wire covers.

No Vic, I think Peggy is asking about the bigger white hose and smaller black hose underneath the wire covers. My guess is bilge hose and sump hose.

As for the question about the connection to the holding tank I think the big 'T' is directly connected to the bottom of the tank. I am with Peggy in not understanding how the pictures relate however.

Thanks Vic...I finally saw the red wire coming out of one of the black corrugated conduit...it's the big white one and black one--the white one especially--that run under the sanitation hose that I'm curious about.

Unless you have a digital SLR and a wide angle lens wide enough to show almost the entire area, it's hard to get photos that show everything you want to know.

I also have a Catalina 310, the big white hose is the manual bilge pump pickup hose. It runs alongside the smaller dark hose that comes from the electric bilge pump. My boat is a 2004 model and the head plumbing is exactly the same as the photos. I would also be interested if you see any modifications that would improve the system.
