I've purchased a cradle that's very close to the plans that are floating around the internet for the Catalina 310. Curious though - I see that the mid supports are crossed out in the internet plans. Is it safe to assume that this means a 4 pad cradle is ok, or is everyone using a 6 pad cradle?

I had a six pad cradle made and it's more secure and stable than the four pad. Considering here in Nova Scotia the boat spends at least five months in it. I sleep better knowing that it is more secure when the nasty winter winds blow. Yes I keep the mast in as it only gets removed for inspection every three years. Next year I will be mastless for the winter.

I have a 4 pad, and an additional support behind the keel. Most of the weight is resting on the keel. I’ve never had an issue.
Cheers

Most if not all of the weight should be on the structure under the keel. The pads are there to stabilize the hull in position. By adding the mid pads the stability of the boat is increased. My experience on my boat.

I have a four pad cradle but I put stands on the rear of the boat for added support. I modified a craddle to fit my boat. If I had it to do over I would have one made with 6 pads
