Catalina 30 rattle @1900

I recently had the cutlass bearing replaced on my 1988 Catalina 30. Now, it has a rattle that comes in at about 1900 rpm, and continually gets worse as I increase power. When in neutral, there is no rattle at all, regardless of the rpm's. The fixed, 2 blade prop was reconditioned, as well. Any ideas?

bent shaft

I had similar problems that turned out to be a bent shaft.

shaft alignment

Lew,I would check the shaft alignment. When the shaft was reattached to the transmission it may not have been aligned properly? Instructions for this procedure are included in the owner's manual.Tom Behrendt

Catalina 30 rattle

When you removed the cutless bearing was the old shaft cut and a new shaft installed? Or was the old shaft removed, straightened and reinstalled? Or did you pull the bearing with the old shaft in place? I have replaced the cutless a few times and to help in your problem more infomation might help.
