Catalina 30 - Price?

After way to much thought and moping around, I have come to realize that due to conditions out of my control (kids wife and house) that its time to sell my boat. This is where I need some input. She is a 1982 Cat 30 a nice boat, but neglected of late, a few blisters (they have been there for years never increasing)lots of extras but a sick engine. She needs lots of elbow grease. How much should I ask for her? Any ideas?Thanks

Just sole one

I just sold a 1983 C30. Mine was in exceptional shape with a 21hp diesel. $26,000. Two dealers I spoke with felt they could sell it in mid to high 20s but they would take 10%. A surveyor and the dealers told me that the 21hp diesel is worth an extra $2,500 to $3,000 over the gas or smaller diesel. Tall rig versus standard is irrelevant at that age. Overall condition and sail condition are worth another few thousand.I combed the net and classifieds to set a price for mine. An '82 in really great shape with a 21hp diesel and nice sails is worth $24,000 - $25,000. I found an owner on this site's classifieds. Good luck.--Mark

Price for an 82' C-30

Right off the bat, fix the engine! the cost of engine replacement is probhitively high and a non functioning engine will send prospective buyers scurrying (away). Assuming a running engine, functioning electrical, plumbing, and rigging, I'd say you could get between 22 & 24K for it in the PNW. If the engine isn't running, you could either get lucky & sell it (too cheap) to a mechanic, or the buyer will have you reduce the price to afford a new engine (I'm guessing about $6-8K).See you in Anacortes!
