looking for information regarding the repair of a loose gooseneck for my C30 tall rig. it appears that the 3 bolts/screws attaching the gooseneck to the mast have pulled away/backed out. Is there a backing plate inside the sail track or is it bolted directly to the mast, or has anyone else experienced this problem? How can i go about replacing this part or finding the 1/4-28 bolts in stainless? My local sail supply shop hasn't been much help and told me to contact Catalina directly.

C30 Gooseneck mouting screws

I had a similiar problem and found the screws to be stripped. The plate in the track guide is hard, maybe stainless. I found the stainless steel 1/4-28s at my local True Value hardware store in Jamestown RI. They may not be the highest grade stainless but they do the trick. Recommend lanacote when you put the new screws in.

thanks John

Thanks John, after taking the gooseneck off, I found 2 of 3 holes on the backing plate stripped out and very fortunate that the boom didn't pull out on it's own. I did find a replacement on Catalina Direct for 70$. Another question I have is, is it standard for the top sail slide to be in bronze or even necessary? This one has a crack along the topside but I only see nylon replacements available. I still can't believe my survey overlooked these things (which was only a month ago).
