Greetings! This is my first post on the Catalina 30 forum. I am the proud new owner of a 1986 Catalina 30, previously named Libelle. She's currently without an engine while it's moderately overhauled and meanwhile I am getting her ready for the Homecoming trip from Pensacola, FL to Niceville, FL.

I noticed that there was a difference between my genoa sheet cars on the toe-rail t-track. One had a nice pull knob with ring, the other had more of a pull handle which on closer inspection is some kind of home-brew epoxy handle made as a fix due to the original pull knob falling off.

Can anyone help me identify the manufacturer of these cars (picture attached)? There are no identifying marks, numbers or names anywhere on these things. I believe they are original equipment on 1986 age C-30's, as there are two other boats at a nearby marina with the same parts.

Also of note, the sheaves would hardly turn, I soaked them in hot water and dissassembled and the delrin bearings were basically ground to dust. I've ordered a bag of 100 new 3/16" delrin bearings(only need 44 of them) for $3.68 to bring them back to life.

Thanks for the help!

My first thought was Barton Marine and might be, but what they make today is much different looking, so no matter. What you have is antiquated genoa leads, but there are a number of alternative lead blocks on the market that will, I am sure, fit your track. Schaefer would be one. Garhauer might be another. Ronstan another. Not Harken, as they use their own track specific to their lead blocks.

While it seems attractive to try to repair them, you'd be better off getting new ones from Garhauer. Ours is an '86, too, and came with Garhauer blocks. Over the years I've replaced them all. Even with a 10 year warranty, it's well past time...

Good luck.

Bill and Stu, thank you for your responses.

I've looked at several brands online, and a few look similar in design. I will take your advice and probably not spend too much time repairing the home-brew pull handle. It seems to work well enough for now. I'll put my new delrin bearings in, see how they spin, and try to get a year or two out of them, thereby easing the pain on the wallet a bit. After the motor work it's starting to get expensive, and I need all new black water plumbing, including tank and head, which is a high priority for the "admiral" (as I see they are referred to on the forums).

Thank you again!
