Looking Good

Went by late today, looking good. Looks like she wants to get back in the water soon!

Looks good Steve, I noticed that it looks like in your photo that you have a llil' hard spot in the same location that I have on my '80 C 30. I think this is where the forward bulkhead has flexed a bit over time to where it created a dimple - point on the port side only. Seems to be consistent on several C -30's I've seen in dry dock. I didn't try to sand mine there - I thought it would make a minor fault worse - I have a standard rig, but it doesn't seem to matter - what year is your boat?

1984. That is interesting, I didn't notice that before. I will check that when I get to the boat tonight. It isn't a major issue?

Not sure actually if U have the hard spot or not - it may just be where the light is striking in the photo - this website reduces the resolution so much its hard to see close details. Its not a major concern, mine only reveals the flaw when sunlight is shining directly downwards - & its probably only visible out of the water, from ground level. Its not something I'm worried about - I think I've heard that it occurred during the original hull layup, if the fiberglass was taken out of the mold too soon, before it fully cured & hardened. I know some Catalinas also show wear through of fiberglass cloth in spots of wear, etc. More of an aesthetic defect then a structural concern. Hope I didn't worry U uneccessarilly. I'm not loosing sleep over it, but I've seen this more than once, just like the Catalina smile, it is what it is.
