Hi there. I have a 1977 Cat 30 and sail on Lake Erie. It isnt Flordia, but the sun gets hot. Being older(senior) the sun seems hotter than in younger days. Anyway, I was wondering if anybody had made a bimini frame for a 30, and if so, had measurements or plans. I would like to make my own and cover it with sunbrella material. The commerical guys want an arm and a leg. The leg I can give, but I need both arms to handle the rig. Thanks.

Ck Sailrite

Ck out Sailrite. They have kits. You can buy the hardware there and the sumbrella material, zippers, etc.

I have been thinking too!

Hey John, I've been thinking along those same lines. I think fiberglass rods from the dome type tents would work real well. Sew in a sleeve & pockets, use some suspension lines like in the advertised tent type bimini photos, and get shade!! S/V Ruba'iya't www.blowinganddrifting@yahoo.com

bimine

I bought my bimine from boaters world I have a C30 the bimine over hangs the cockpit 3" to eather side of the winches and it runs in lenth from the winch to the back ladder. The backstay is cut throw the top with lether patches and gromets to run the wire throw.I put the top up when they raise the mast in the spring but can take it off by holding mast with hailyard and then takeing the stays off one at a time.If I had no doger I would put the bimine in frount of the stays to cover the cabin hatch I cut poles down so i can stand under the bimine and the boom clears it wial sailing Last year i bought a new main sail and had it cut to clear the bimine Im makeing sides for it now so you can sit on deck in the rain.I think it cost me 350 with shiping all the junk to make one has to cost 250 and then you have to make it.I will never be with out a doger and bimine again Its great
