Catalina 270

We are looking at a 1995 Catalina 270 - I've read the owner reviews on this site - just hoping someone can offer some further insight. We were looking at 30' boats when this one came along. It's a nice boat in great shape but I'm afraid it may be too small in a couple of years. I'm also interested in the handling characteristics under power - we'll have a tight dock space! Any insight or thoughts would be appreciated.

I just bought one (Catalina 270), as well.
The size question - it depends on what you are planning to do (in a couple of years).

We bought it for cockpit room - most boats this size have much smaller cockpit (and a larger cabin). If you want to sail overnight (or longer) and expect more than two people on-board, you might be tight - there is no privacy for people in the V-berth (as opposed to most other boats this size or larger).

The cabin is great for shorter trips, even with a large number of people (let's say 6).

Btw. where did you find it? If you are in Pickering, ON, beware of issues with transporting the boat from the US.
