Catalina 27 Benicia but will move to Santa Cruz
Hi all! I recently purchased a catalina 27 dinette model. Wondering if anyone can give me directions on how to turn the table to a bed. I know you are supposed to use the cushions from the seating area and I have tried but does not fit. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't have a 27....

I've seen people with a 25 like mine....create small sections of plywood that lay across the cabin, on top of the settes....with support in the middle.... and they put a queen size air mattress on top of it....basically turning the cabin into a queen sized bed.

Measure your dinette and see if an inflatable air mattress will fit....then fab up the plywood sections. Make sure they can break down and store in the quarterberth.

BTW - Congrats on the 27! They're great boats.....

Unless you're missing parts, the conversion is pretty common.... the seats and backrests lay flat.... there will be a six inch gap at the aft end of the bunk between cushion and backboard. My boat came with a small bolster type cushion that slips into the gap.... and that's the end I put the pillows on.... You can be creative....or go to a fabric store and purchase a piece of foam to make a spacer.

A single air mattress will fit quite well in the space.... I just laid it right on top of the cushions....... pretty comfy, but when it crapped out I did not replace it.... the cushions are not as deep and soft as I like.... but interestingly I have become used to its firmness. I lay an additional 1 inch foam mattress pad over the cushions.... rolling it up with the bedding and stuffing it all in the vee berth when I put the table up.
