Hi, In a mad dash prior to retirement, I have decided to purchase a Catalina 27 and also to build a garage/pole barn that will among other things, store the boat and trailer. I am soon to make arrangements for the building, but I want to be sure that the boat will fit (I'm still looking for the boat). My main questions are 1) What will the overall length of the boat/mast/trailer be? and 2) How high is the highest point? (How high will the door need to be?). Thanks in advance, Darrell

On my trailer...

On my Easy Loader Trailer, with the mast strapped down, It is easily 13 foot. For peace of mind I would plan on a 15 foot tall door. That being said the boat sits high on the trailer compared to trailers that are more "cradle" like. I do not use my C 27 as a trailer sailor I just have the trailer so I can pull it home if I ever need to. Dan B C 27 Dinnette Std Rig 1973 #653 OB

Re: On my trailer...

Thanks Dan I also posted this question to our local sailing club (Rocky Fork Sailing Club) and the consensus there also seems to be for a 15 foot door. My main reason for trailering will be to get the boat near my workshop and will make winter upgrades and maintenance easier. Thanks again, Darrell

A Photo

Here's a photo(or should be)of my C27 on a trailer. Notice the distance fromn keel to ground that could affect height a lot.
