I have not tested a Catalina 250 WB yet but I will probably buy one - I was poised to buy a 1996 Hunter 260 WB when I discovered that the boats 8'11" beam requires a Wide Load Permit to trailor in Ga. The permit is 1 way and costs $37.00 each time. Hunter does not mention this anywhere in their literature. The Catalina's 8'6" beam gives up some room but keeps us legal.

Catalina vs Hunter

I generally like the Catalina boats over equivalent Hunters. I have a Cat Capri 18, and it seems to be a much better boat than the (no longer in production) Hunter 19. The Hunter 212 is an interesting boat, but I'd take a Capri 22 or Cat 22 over it. I really like the Cat 250, especially the WB version for a trailer sailer. The WK boat does have more cabin headroom, though. But the WB is about 1000 lbs lighter than the WK.
