I write this article to the people who own either a Catalina 22 or 25 or a McGregor 25 sailboat. I'm looking to purchase one of these boats. I would like to know the real truth about them, good and the bad. I don't want to hear from some salesman, who would tell me anything about their boats, just to make a sale! I'm am a 57yr old person, with a mind of a 21yr. old. The mind is willing but the body isn't. This is why I want a boat I can enjoy in my old age. Besides the last time I had my 16'Hobie Cat on the water.I was going so fast thatI pitchpoled the damn thing on Folsom Lake. (I felt like superman flying in reverse thru the air, and then strattling the boom. Boy did that leave a mark, and my voice was a little higher that day too?) Okay enough about me.Questions I want to know:Have you sailed on both boats, and what did you think of them.Which one sailed better in some rough water. Which is the smoother rider?Which one in your opinon is the stronger built. (My grand children will be onboard)How good is a boat that you fill full of water for ballast? On tack which is the best. Drop centerboard, wing keel, or waterballast. Why I ask about water ballast, is because I heard the Catalina is coming out with a water ballast boat. Please anything that you can tell me about these boats would help me to make a final choice. Keep the dry side up, and the wet side down! Thank You, Rick Adorador Getting too old to cat around! Carmichael,CA. captain-hardtack@adorador.net
