Good morning! A few days ago, a storm passed through our Marina causing massive damage to the mast on my 1989 Catalina 25. A very nice owner about 100 miles from me has one that is from a 1978 Catalina 25. I have searched for detailed parameters for specs with no luck...any insight will be appreciated.

This shows the mast specs: CATALINA 25 - sailboatdata

If you haven't already, you could ask here: Association Forum - Catalina 25 Specific Forum
Thank you for the info. I suppose my question has a dual purpose...if the masts were made with fittings in different locations, I could modify...I suppose I could just go and get the mast, lay it out beside what is left of my old one and measure. The perfect answer to my question would read as follows, "Why yes, Ken...I replaced the mast on my 1989 25 with a mast from a 1978 25. It was a bolt on replacement and I was on the water in 2 hours!" Of course, I am only kidding!

Thank You again for taking time to respond:)
Ken

Catalina didn't tend to change things like chainplate positions and such, very likely the '79 one would fit but would be best to get somebody who actually knows :)

Why are you fighting the input you have been given?

There is an entire website devoted to Catalina 25 sailboats. They know. There are more of them there than here (and I used to own a lovely C25, 1981, #4986).

Go ask there: previously given to you
Hi Stu…
I’ve combed through that data and can’t find the detail I’m needing. I don’t think I’m fighting anything. I don’t remember you being so nasty in our chats over the years. If my post bothers you I can delete it and remove myself from this group…just let me know and I will go…

Just call Catalina, directly. They will answer this and leave no doubt. They are actually really helpful and don't seem to mind taking a few minutes to answer questions about old boats.

Not that long ago, our Catalina 27 had rusted keel bolts. I wasn't sure if I should replace them, add adjuvant bolts, or just leave well enough alone. They looked at photos and gave me really detailed recommendations.

All I suggested was for you to ASK there. Combing thru may not get you an answer. Maybe someone did a 76 to 83 swap.

Also try this:

Well folks, today is my lucky day, I have found a direct replacement less than a 100 miles away (and a killer deal!)...great condition and all there...looks like we will be on the water sooner than expected...good people still exist!!! Thank you all for the very helpful information!
