The largest retractable keel Catalina that I know of is the 25.

The Catalina 27/270 has only been offered as a standard or shoal draft fixed keel.... that I know of.

Dude....... are you aware that the spelling is KEEL, at least here in the U.S. and Canada.

The next swing keel is the 25. Its a nice boat with a lot more room than the 22. My 27 is a shoal draft but I watched a guy launch his C-27 fin keel last weekend. He lowered the trailer down the ramp with a 25' tow strap. Unfortunately after launching the boat he told his girlfriend to go park the truck and trailer, forgetting it was still on the 25' leash. Off she went lickety split through the crowed parking lot hitting 25 mph just before the trailer veered off and hit the front quarter of a parked van.

We went C22 (1983 - 1987), C25 (1987 - 1998) [both were 1981 boats], the our 1986 C34 since.

The C25 doubles the volume of the C22.

Many have made the point that the interiors of the C25 and C27 are pretty much the same in space.

With the emphasis on YET?!? :)

At one point the extender bar on our C22's trailer got stuck. I backed it up to a tree and tied the trailer to it (boat was in the water). Slooooowly drove away until the hitch pulled the shaft out! I then lubricated well (I'd missed doing it one season and paid the price!).

The C25 had a fixed keel. I gave up on trailer sailing after four years.
