Does anyone know how much the 22 will "squat" down at the stern when the keel is raised? I know a good portion of weight moves aft with the keel up and I'm wondering just how much it affects the attitude of the boat. I slipped my boat on a canal last year and had to keep the keel up due to the shallow water. The boat sat low in the back and ended up with some slime just above the ablative paint at the back end. The ablative paint at the bow was a little above the water surface. This year I have a deep slip where I can leave the keel down. Do you think having the keel weight all the way forward (down) will get the boat sitting on it's intended waterline? I'm getting ready to strip and repaint the bottom and I'm wondering if I should raise the "waterline" a bit at the aft end. Another thought I had was to add a little ballast in the bow(sand bags or lead) to level the boat out. Has anyone dealt with this issue? What was your experience and how did you compensate?Don't know why, but I never thought to jump in the water out on the lake last year and have someone raise and lower the keel to see the affect on attitude.By the way, I don't have the boat loaded down with gear in the locker, and my engine weighs about 60 pounds.Thanks,Dave1988 Catalina 22 Swing-Keel #14447
