Catalina C22 Trailer sailer
Hi everyone. Finally got back into sailboat ownership. With this one being a 1982 C22! Super excited! Bringing the boat home will involve a 2.5 hr drive, and the boat has not moved in over 8 years. I decided to remove tires and wheel hubs and go ahead and get new 225/75R15 load D tires and installed new wheel bearings. This proved to be a challenge.
Our Trail Rite trailers use a UFH manufacturer axle, Similar to a dexter, but not……
Outer bearing (smaller) is L44649, Race is L44610. The inner and larger bearing is L68149, and race is L68110. (Most dexter axle kits have the larger race L68111, which will NOT fit!). The Axle seals are AD2527E, but my local parts house was only able to get 473317. The included seal in the Dexter kit is 2.5”, and our hubs need a 2.3” seal. So again, # 473317. I could not find this info using a basic search, so I hope this will be helpful for others. Headed to the NC coast tomorrow to retrieve my Catalina22!

Good info !

Fwiw I always just measure the seal and use the numbers on the races and bearings.
Trailer manufacturers often change their suppliers so you can never assume that the axles, are the same, even from one year to the next.

In addition, if an owner damages the spindle, the replacement spindle may not use the same bearings. (My trailer had that "problem" when I bought it)
