lowering the mast
Its pretty straight forward, if this is your first time to lower the mast I would advise you to have some help at least one other person (maybe the PO could give you a hand). One at the mast to lower it to a person standing in the cockpit. Only the two forward lowers and the forestay need be released to lower the mast. You don't say if you have a mast up with your boat. If you don't then the person in the cockpit will have to hold the mast until you remove the bolt. (a third person could hold a line attached to the forestay and one wrap around the Bow pulpit would help you control the drop) "Make sure you close the hatch" the mast will hit and break it if its not closed. If you don't have a mast up plan on making or buying one soon it makes this job much easier. Good luck.
