Hello, I have an 81 Catalina 22. There are two lights on the mast, a steaming light, and a deck light. Neither works. The plug at the bottom of the mast has three prongs, which plug into a receptacle on the deck. Does anyone know how the plug is wired? Are all three wires 'hot'? Is one a ground and the others for power? The plug is not keyed. I have a meter, and I understand electricity (enough to be dangerous), so if I knew what was supposed to be happening I could troubleshoot better. Thanks, Barry

Check the connections on the Deck Recepticle

Try detaching the deck recepticle and looking at how the colors line up on the opposite side. Thas't how I did it when I decided to re-wire the mast lights on my 1986 C-22. (which by the way had a 4-lead connector at the deck level. Larry

C-22 wiriring for a 1981 C-22

An 81 C-22 had only a mast light and hence two wires in its original set up as you can see by looking at the link below. The PO has added the deck light and hence addtional positive wire. As you also posted this over at Sail Net, I hope you will read my comments there.
