Weight
Hi, I'm not sure how exact this is but here goes:http://www.gisails.com/boats/catalina/island/22mkii/This puts the boat weight at 2,290 lbs but that does not include certain necessities. If you have the motor on the boat while trailering or if you have any other items other than bare boat on the trailer. That weight is for swing keel. Wing Keel: add 256 lbs. and if a Fin Keel: add 313 lbs. You could easily have a total weight of 3500 lbs. You also have to consider the trailer weight which can easily be 900 lbs or more if tandem axle with brakes. Other things to consider are:Distance to travel and road that you are going to tow on. For example, my vehicle is about at the limit for a C-22 in towing capacity but the distance is not great on a flat back road. I go slow and easy.If I were going to do a lot of road driving, i'd have a big pickup or full sized van. The trailer would be tandem axle and it would include brakes. Trailer brakes are a factor in road safety. On a flat road, many vehicles can get this mass rolling but stopping in an emergency can be interesting. If you add a lot of other weight to your vehicle such as other passengers or supplies it adds to the total gross vehicle weight. One other thing to consider with the MK II is that it is a bit wider than a standard C-22 by about 8". it is 8'4" wide.
