Hello all,
I just bought an 1984 Catalina 22 and would like to find a kitchenette. I have searched the web and not much luck, so if anyone knows of someone parting out boat please let me know. Thanks

The nautical term for kitchen is Galley. Try searching with that word.

Wish I'd known sooner, I actually pitched mine in the dumpster, totally useless as Catalina set it up, and I could not find anyone to take it off my hands. The best quote I heard about the Catalina slidein galley "it doesn't take up much space in your garage" says it all. After 6 years in the garage it went bye bye. honestly, you can make a much better designed unit than that from parts from an RV place and Home Depot. The icebox had no insulation. The faucet would only spit water at you. The sink drained into the same problematic line than the cockpit scuppers do, if it would drain at all. And good luck finding a stove that will fit into that little space provided.

So, in our C22's it's called a galley-ette? My New-style didn't have this thing. They put a stainless heat deflection shield on the ceiling next to the window curtains :doh:and just behind the stbd. side chainplate bulkhead. I think that one of the issues is that many times local pollution regs prohibit sinks from draining into the water system. Then also cooking on boats can be a bit dangerous. I think that an LP leak can and have blown up a boat and I've heard that the alcohol stoves are hard to light and have issues at melting a snowball. http://zenstoves.net/Stoves.htm

You're a sailor, Make one. do a mock-up of cardboard and then make one out of fiberglass, starboard, or what ever. you can make it how it would be best for you. Be creative. If you mess it up learn and start it over again. It will be a fun learning event.

I've pondered my Origo alcohol stove since I got the boat. It shined like a jewel of polished stainless steel and was the only item in the boat that gleemed. During my restoration, I occasionally would look at it to remind myself how nice the rest of the project could look when I finished. Of course, the reason the stove gleemed, was because no one had ever used it! It had sat like dead weight for 26 years adding five pounds and consuming a foot and one half of valuable storage space. As I loaded the boat for it's first sail, the space that stove occupied began to look more and more useful than the stove itself. My shiny Origo now occupies a shelf in the basement. Like "Shipwreck66" above, it may one day find it's way to Ebay or the dumpster! Soon I'll focus my attention on the pump-style faucet. What evil mind decided that people can wash one hand while pumping water with the other?

Even the two burner on my C27 now resides in my workshop, where it occassionally makes coffee. The space it once occupied now is home to our food pantry. I carry a small portable butane single burner in the event we want to heat something up, which rarely happens. Boats are adaptable, you own it, adapt it to your needs as you see fit.

If you don't find one I was just asked a few weeks ago if I wanted to buy one because one of the guys at the lake was trying to sell his. Not sure how much he wanted or the price of shipping from OKC, but if you really want one....

Thanks Paco! After I sent the other post I realized I had a computer and could do my own search - duhh . I found a few others but the link you sent is the least expensive one I've seen though.

I would have to agree with the rest. We had ours in the boat for one season, never use it and I sold it. You will be amazed at the room you will have when it is gone. Remember it was called the curtain burner for a reason. That is all your need to know.

I haven't got to facing the "bohemoth from down under" yet. Mine is complete but I am not sure it would ever function correctly. Probably shed bound. Seems like sink work could be done better in the cockpit and cooking most definitely could. Has anyone mounted a grill on the Stern Pulpit? My mother has one on her Krogan "Principia" and it works fine but there is much more room.

Stern grill and a butane stove is very hard to beat.

If you consider the Magma know that it's a bit on the HOT side, they provide a high output regular but will sell you a extra low for around 25.00...:D
