Does anyone have a recommendation for how to replace the nut from the sail track stopper on a Catalina Capri 18 with local hardware store parts? I ordered the below replacement part but it won’t arrive before I was hoping to take it out for a day sail this weekend.

Also maybe a silly question, does the stopper go above or below the boom? I think it’s below but I’m not sure what stops the boom from raising higher into the track while underway.

Thank you!

As the mast it would provide more grip and contact to prevent/reduce slipping. Double entry here due to fat fingers, sorry.a

Stoppers are used to keep the sail from dropping out of the track when reefing or flaking the sail onto the boom. The boom is held in place by the gooseneck which should be securely attached to the mast below the gate for the sail.

It looks like a ¼-20 nut with a washer will work.
