I just put a 1983 Catalina 22 in the water at Port Aransas Texas. Yesterday was one of the all-time high water marks of sailing! Cool, crisp, north wind, 10-15 and full sun in the afternoon. Dolphins nearby and the Whooping Cranes are passing through, complete with a human Festival. :) However, I have heard that a swing-keel Cat22 is not so good in salt water. I contracted for a year at Island Moorings, a great place to anchor in Port A, but now I am a little worried

sorry

Title should be swing keel blues?, I am worried that my swing keel will have trouble being in salt water for a year. Any advice would be welcome! Bill P Port A, Tx

Cat 22 Swing Keel is Fine in Salt Water . . .

I had a 1982 model up until last year. It was in salt water its entire life. I would keep a Zinc or Aluminum Anode on the keel. You should pull the boat once or twice a year to check things out and do any maintenance. The only problem is the warmer water in your location, and the increased electrolisis. Overall, you should be fine.

Boat is in the water, how to add an anode

Thanks. However, the boat is already in the water and I didn't add an anode. I can go underwater to do it, but can you recommend the easiest way to attach an anode while the boat is in the water? Thanks, Bill P
