Does anyone have a solution (sic) for getting cat pee out of sails? Washed it 3 times laid it in the sun & to still no avail. This is a laminate-kevlar-mylar type sail and we need to get it out!

Please, if this has happend to you, let me know!

Thanks for any help at all.

Use 5% white vinegar or an enzyme solution (Unique and others offer products for this, just google it). I used the former to remove mice urine from my ski boat carpet and vinyl and garage cement floor ONLY once and hopefully the last time. I have used the former to remove dog urine from carpet and pad several times.

If you are going for stain removal those efforts may work but if you are going for aroma removal forgetaboutit. That stuff is perfume to other cats and lasts a little longer than the great pyramids of Egypt.

I'm in the market as were . Colonial Beach
If a cat peed on my sails I think that I would have to see how well the cat could swim.

There are many products that you can buy at walmart or petsmart that will help you get the odor out of the sails. Ask your sail maker as well.

Only one thing I know of that WILL work: PureAyre. PureAyre My dad was in a nursing home for the last 3 years of his life...I did his laundry and had to deal with some amazing "accidents." PureAyre PureAyre was the only thing that eliminated the odor entirely. I did have to do bit of experimenting to learn how to use it...I finally found that soaking the offending garment in a pint of PureAyre in a bucket of COLD water overnight, then washing with the rest of the load worked. If I had several pieces, I put a quart in cold water in the washer overnight and washed it with the rest of the load the next day.

I know it also eliminates cat urine odor, 'cuz I have a couple of rescue cats, one of which is a 15 lb tub of lard whose butt occasionally overhangs the outside of the litter box which sits on a large mat in the laundry room. It all goes outside to be hosed off, then the mat sprayed with PureAyre.

You'll prob'ly have to order from their website...it's expensive, but a lot cheaper than replacing clothes or sails. Get the household version.

cat pee removal

white vinegar works on rugs and carpet. I water it down with about half water sometimes. I would try it on a piece of the sail to see if it would affect the sail fabric. if you have more questions let me know. do not clean any part of a boat with ammonia as that can attract cats and dogs to pee in those areas

Kids N Pets (found at Walmart) is an enzyme-based product that states that it is guaranteed to remove urine odors. I haven't used it for that purpose, but can say that it removes diesel odors. You soak the item in a solution of KnP and let it dry--don't rinse.

A friend of mine maintains several homes in his "rental fleet" here in this college town. His product of choice for dealing with pet urine/feces and other odors is actually the feminine hygiene products from Massengill... 'Trying not to type "that" word but my freind swears by its ability to remove stubborn odors left behind by his college-age tennants and pets...
