I have recently purchased a 1981 Cat 25 with swing keel. I had the boat moved from Grand harbor marina on Pickwick lake to the yard in Memphis for a bottom job etc. The crew who moved her tried to raise the keel and the clutch on the winch did not hold. The keel had not been raised by the previous owner for 10 years. I lifted it several rounds to verafy the winch was working' but did not raise it all the way up. The movers found some signs of some damage from years ago. I have a new winch & handle on the way from Catalina Direct along with a new rubber hose. I figure now is the right time to change what appears to be original hose. The yard will check all components when on the hard. I can not find any info. on the clutch system on any of the forums. Lots of info on the Cat 22 sites for their winches which only have to lift 550 lbs. Not the 1500 lbs on my boat. I have read some horror stories about boats sinking when the keel dropped while fully retracted. She will go back in the water at Sardis marina the end of July which is not soon enough for me. Any advise or warnings would be greatly apreciated. Charley Sheets & boomer4tug&yahoo.com P.S. There are pictures of her racing at Pickwich on the site. She carries the name "Cavale"
