We are toying around with the idea of carpeting over the interior teak. The teak is pretty shot, and we thought it might be better on those freezing cold mornings. Any ideas? Dave

Cabin sole?

I assume and hope that you mean the sole(floor). My main cabin sole('79 H37C) is in decent shape but I still have "wall-to-wall". It is easier to keep clean, easy on the feet, and preserves the original teak. We bought a remnant originally, one with a rubber backing so as not to scratch the varnish. And it did not slide. Problem is that rubber-backed carpet is relatively rare, not enough color choices. When we decided a darker color was needed we just bought the standard carpet with the hard backing. Both were cut to fit including holes for the mast and bilge openings. Then all the edges were bound. We added double-backed tape so that it would not creep. We use a rug at the foot of the ladder and matching carpet pieces in the galley and q-berth.

One picture.

I have no idea why I took this one picture. It was after the season when I always took the carpet home. We had spilled coffee on it. This is the original rubber-backed piece. So you can see why we decided on a darker color.

Carpet - comfort for the Sole

Last yr i removed the T&H sole on my H33, 82'. It was badly beaten and beyond repair. I carefully removed it in 3 sections, all in tact. From it I traced & cut a good quality carpert. After cleaning the glass floor I glued down the carpet. looks great and feels better on the feet. Eventually i will replace with T&E sole.
